Where the day goes
The Ouzoud falls, Cascades d’Ouzoud in French, are in Azilal Province, north-east of Marrakech. By road it is 159.6 km from Jemaa el-Fnaa to the parking by the falls. The tours drive it out and back in one day and stop for coffee on the way, usually at Ouled Khellouf.
The Moroccan National Tourist Office describes the falls as a 100-metre drop into a chasm; tour descriptions often say 110. From the top, the paths go down through olive trees to the river below the falls, where small boats take visitors close to the falling water. Everything you climb down, you climb back up. Ando Travel Ltd collects you from a hotel or riad in Marrakech. On the three dates we read, 27 November 2026, 20 January and 10 March 2027, every option started at 7:30 AM. The van drives 45 minutes to a 25-minute coffee break at Ouled Khellouf, then about 2 hours to Ouzoud.
About 4 hours at the falls follow. The description includes a stop at a women’s argan co-operative, a viewpoint for a fresh orange juice, a short boat ride at the foot of the falls and a Berber lunch at a local restaurant, but which of these you get depends on the option. The drive back is about 2 hours 45 minutes, and the whole day lasts 11 to 12 hours.

The from-price on the calendar moves with the date, but on every date we read it belonged to the self-guided option. On Options 1 and 2, lunch is about EUR 12-13, paid locally. On Option 2, the guide and the boat ride “can usually be arranged locally upon arrival”, with no price given. What you pay on the spot puts these sums side by side for every operator here.
Guided, self-guided or private
Most Ouzoud days are sold this way, as one van with a ladder of options. The self-guided rung suits you if you are happy to find the path yourself and pay for a guide or the boat there, or skip them. A reviewer of RED CITY TRANS's day who booked transport only wrote on 4 October 2026 that nobody would say where or when to meet for the drive back unless they joined the guided group, so ask the driver for the meeting point and time before you set off.
The guided rungs settle the guide and the boat in advance. Marrakech City Life SARL's day is from US$8 on promotion, usually US$16 (checked November 2026) for a day it names as guided, without the boat ride or lunch; that price held on 27 November only, and the same option was US$9.77 on 20 January. RED CITY TRANS sells the same kind of ladder from US$15 on promotion, usually US$21, and marrakech city travel from US$16 on promotion, usually US$19 for transport only, in a group of up to 17 (checked November 2026).

What reviewers mention
Ando Travel Ltd’s day has 40,974 reviews on GetYourGuide at an average of 4.6. We read the 350 most recent, dated 22 October to 8 November 2026. Of those, 38 give three stars or fewer, and 24 of the 38 carry text.
In those 24 texts, at least six reviewers say the guide did not speak the language they had booked, and at least six object to the hours in the van. At least five complain about time spent at an argan co-operative or a shop on the path. At least four are unhappy with lunch: cold dishes, a restaurant by the car park instead of one facing the falls, or 260 dirhams paid on the spot by a reviewer who expected lunch to be included. One wrote that a single guide had more than 100 people (5 November); one booked a private tour for up to seven and found nine people on it (25 October); one could not take the boat in a storm (23 October).
The same 350 reviews praise the guides in at least 34 texts and the scenery in at least 40.
Before you book
- Option. The from-price on most Ouzoud cards is a transport-only seat. Read the option name before you pay.
- Walking. The path down and back up is steep, with hundreds of steps. Ando Travel Ltd’s day is not suitable for wheelchair users, people with a low level of fitness or people with altitude sickness. The walk, the steps and the boat goes through it.
- The boat. It can be suspended in heavy rain or high water; on Ando Travel Ltd’s day a boat ride that did not happen is refunded at EUR 2 a person.
- Swimming. Do not count on a swim: swimming and the macaques explains why.
- Season. The national tourist office names March to May and September to November as the best months; the best time to visit adds the rain and the boat.

No. In heavy rain, or when the water flow is too strong, the boat ride can be suspended by the local authorities or the boat operators. On Ando Travel Ltd's day a boat ride that did not happen is refunded at EUR 2 a person; on Click Excursions' day the time goes to the guided walk or free time instead.
Do not plan on it. In June 2026 the newspaper Aujourd'hui le Maroc reported drownings in the lower basin in May and June 2026 despite a ban on swimming in certain zones, and quoted the president of the communal council on new warning and prohibition signs. Some tours still mention a swim, while two reviewers in October 2026 wrote that swimming was not allowed or not possible. See swimming and the macaques.
Often, but sightings cannot be guaranteed, a point written into the notes of Marrakech City Life SARL's day. The IUCN Red List classes the Barbary macaque as Endangered (assessment of 4 August 2016, published 2020).
